Serena Wolman is a choreographer and director. With a foundation primarily in jazz and contemporary genres, her work moves between physicality, sensuality, and dynamic jazz movement. Using camp as a creative lens, she explores the space between irony and sincerity, humor and drama- her work blends styles through simple structure and stylized states.
A current part of her work is integrating nightlife and contemporary dance. Serena creates work that embraces the spirit of underground spaces, most notably through projects such as Kiss My Face and Play Me Techno and Tell Me I’m Pretty, which merge choreography with nightlife and performance art. Each in its eighth iteration, these shows aim to reimagine the spaces where dance can live— dissolving the boundary between audience and performer, they re-define platforms for dance, and reignite dance’s theatrical power, expanding the ways it can be encountered and valued.
Serena currently resides in New. York City.
